As part of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism initiatives, the Municipality of Udine will lay 10 new stumbling stones in the city.
The initiative to lay stumbling stones, which was launched years ago by the artist Gunter Demnig, is now taking place in Udine for the fourth time.
With the ten stones laid in 2025, there are now 37 ‘markers’ in Udine that perpetuate the memory of the people who lost their lives in the concentration camps.
Stumbling stones are part of a widespread memorial that is immediately perceptible and concrete: the stone that is laid on the pavement tells each of us that a person lived there who was captured and deported to the camps where he or she died.
The stones are ‘signals’ that help us to wake up and remember the lives of the people to whom they are dedicated.
The biographies of the people to whom the 2025 stumbling stones are dedicated can be seen in the exhibition.
