Opening on Thursday 26 February at 6.30 p.m. at Casa Cavazzini is the exhibition of Mind The Gap: the project dedicated to contemporary visual arts conceived and promoted by Altreforme, in collaboration with the Civic Museums of Udine.

Curated by Lorenzo Lazzari, the exhibition, titled Dall'evidenza all'immaginazione (From Evidence to Imagination), offers an urgent reflection on the contemporary climate crisis, bringing scientific evidence, artistic practices and possible future visions into dialogue. It invites visitors to engage with present-day phenomena — floods, droughts, migration and transforming landscapes — in order to foster imaginative practices and concrete alternatives, through the works of international artists and the dialogue between art, science and society.

The exhibition itinerary encourages visitors to question the role of art as a space for critical thought, capable of shaping new perceptions of environmental violence and the inequalities that stem from it.

The works in the exhibition relate complex themes such as the “more-than-human”, geological time, global logistics, migration and housing practices. Within the exhibition, time emerges as a leitmotif in its different dimensions: geological time, human time and time accelerated by industrial activity, reflecting on how global warming has disrupted the planet’s slow rhythms and produced unequal consequences Alongside the environmental dimension, the exhibition highlights the connection between climate injustice and forced displacement, while also foregrounding land-care practices that open up concrete possibilities for sustainable coexistence. Works by Carloni–Franceschetti, Pol Esteve Castelló and Gerard Ortín Castellví, Noémie Goudal, Sonia Levy and the Robida collective translate data, archives and contemporary phenomena into visual devices capable of fostering new forms of awareness.

Mind The Gap does not end with the exhibition space, but develops with a widespread presence throughout the region through:
- participatory art workshops for schools;
- training courses and popular meetings with speakers from universities and cultural institutions to combine the artistic perspective with historical, sociological, scientific and philosophical knowledge;
- film screenings and interdisciplinary interventions in Udine, Gorizia and Trieste.
Details of the meetings (with Elena Mazzi, Enrico Pitozzi, Fabio Trincardi, Luigi Pellizzoni and others) are available at projectmindthegap.it

The exhibition is co-produced by Altreforme and the Municipality of Udine - Casa Cavazzini and with the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Friuli Foundation, the Pietro Pittini Foundation, BCC Banca di Udine and Legacoop Fvg.
